Meet our Leaders
Claudia Saiz, Chief Executive Officer
With more than 10 years of critical care and leadership experience in inpatient and acute care facilities, Claudia is personally aware of what is required to provide the best of care to our patients. She is committed to providing excellent leadership for the day-to-day management of the hospital.
Claudia earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
Claudia currently serves as the vice-chair for the New Mexico Board of Nursing and is a member of the New Mexico Organization for Nurse Leaders, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and sits on the Advisory Board for the College of Health and Social Services Advisory Board.
Luis A. Roman, Director of Plant Operations
Luis is an El Paso, TX native and has more than 18 years’ experience in hospital plant and operations. Luis holds an Associate’s Degree from Western Tech in HVAC. Luis has most recently been an Engineering Supervisor for the last 10 years, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. As a Navy reservist, Luis has been formally trained as an equipment operator as well, and will bring with him the comradery and training he received there to the benefit of our entire team and facility.
Amanda Carreon, Director of Case Management
Amanda brings a range of experience to our hospital team. She worked as a patient care technician in the intensive care unit and as a lab assistant at a local hospital. She then worked for six more years as a registered nurse in the intensive care and post anesthesia care units. She also is a certified occupational therapy assistant.
Amanda applies all her expertise as she helps our patients and family members go through the continuum of care. She is the key coordinator between them and physicians, clinical staff, and outside services. She believes in the Guiding Principle, “We are only as good as our last patient outcome,” so she constantly strives to improve our patients’ satisfaction and results.
A registered nurse, Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Dona Ana Community College in Las Cruces, N.M.
She is actively involved in the community and participates in the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Gospel Rescue Mission, donation drives for school supplies, Santa’s Little Helpers toy drive, and clothing and food drives for the underprivileged.
Daniel Co, Director of Pharmacy Services
Daniel comes to the team as a native Georgia resident, with the goal of delivering quality patient care through the provision of clinical knowledge and cost-effective pharmacy management.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Ga, Daniel earned his doctorate for pharmacy at The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. He completed his PGY-1 acute care residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
An active member of the American Pharmacist Association and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacy, Daniel looks forward to bettering the profession of pharmacy while also contributing to the visions of Ernest Health.
Jennifer Risley, Director of Therapy Services
Jennifer is committed to learning and doing all she can to provide quality, state-of-the art, and patient-centered therapeutic services for everyone who walks through our doors. Jennifer has spent more than eight years as an occupational therapist with experience in long term acute care, in-patient rehab, home health services, and pediatrics. She is Neuro-IFRAH Certified with additional training in aquatic therapy and hippo-therapy.
Her responsibility is to oversee inpatient and outpatient therapy operations.
Jennifer gained her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition sciences from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. and then completed her master’s degree in occupational therapy at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. She is a member of American Occupational Therapy Association.
Jennifer loves helping others and now serves as secretary for the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Las Cruces.
Carole A. Carson, Area Director of Nursing Operations
Before coming to the hospital, Carole spent more than six years working in critical care. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. and a degree in exercise physiology from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.
Carole is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning. She loves to serve the people in her community as an instructor at New Mexico State University and an Advisory Board Member of Dona Ana Community College Nursing Department.
Roy Rivas, Director of Marketing and Business Development
Roy has been a registered respiratory therapist for more than 16 years with practice focused in long term acute care, rehabilitation, critical care, diagnostic testing and clinical education.
Roy is a member of the Advisory Board for the Respiratory Care Program at Dona Ana Community College. He was the first respiratory therapist employed by Ernest Health and set up our flagship hospital’s respiratory care program.
Roy is active in several quality healthcare initiatives and brings in-depth knowledge and skills to our continuous quality improvement program. He is a native of Las Cruces and lives by our Guiding Principles.
Elizabeth Striplin, Controller
With more than 25 years of experience, Elizabeth is responsible for the financial planning, management, and analysis for our hospital. She is actively involved in her community through the New Mexico Friends of Rehab and the American Red Cross.
Sharon Wagner, Director of Patient Outcomes
Sharon’s favorite guiding principle is, “We promote a healing and nurturing environment ….responding to the medical, physical, psychological, and social needs of our patients.” This suits Sharon and her role at the hospital well.
A registered nurse, Sharon is responsible for utilization review and case management reporting. She brings more than nine years of experience to her role, with 5 of those years being spent in intensive care experience. She also has worked in medical/surgical, telemetry and catheter care units.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
A native of Las Cruces, she enjoys living and working in the community. She currently is active in her community through the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Gospel Rescue Mission, and school supply donation drives.
Meghan VanNatta, Director of Compliance
Meghan is passionate about providing high quality care to patients and constantly strives to assure the improvement of patient satisfaction and results.
Meghan brings more than 11 years of experience to her role, having served in both compliance and critical care nursing.
A registered nurse, Meghan earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Heart Association.
In her spare time, Meghan is involved with missionary work within her church. She enjoys spending time with her two children and playing recreational softball and volleyball.
Brandon Masters, Director of Human Resources
Brandon is proud to support the hospital’s employees as they contribute to the organization’s mission and make a positive difference in the lives of patients and families that are served.
Brandon possesses more than 18 years of experience in human resources management, including employee relations and general experience. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration/HR management from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. He has earned the Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
When not working, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family, and playing and watching sports.
