Meet our Leaders
Claudia Saiz, Chief Executive Officer
With more than 10 years of critical care and leadership experience in inpatient and acute care facilities, Claudia is personally aware of what is required to provide the best of care to our patients. She is committed to providing excellent leadership for the day-to-day management of the hospital.
Claudia earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
Claudia currently serves as the vice-chair for the New Mexico Board of Nursing and is a member of the New Mexico Organization for Nurse Leaders, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and sits on the Advisory Board for the College of Health and Social Services Advisory Board.
Luis A. Roman, Director of Plant Operations
Luis is an El Paso, TX native and has more than 18 years’ experience in hospital plant and operations. Luis holds an Associate’s Degree from Western Tech in HVAC. Luis has most recently been an Engineering Supervisor for the last 10 years, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. As a Navy reservist, Luis has been formally trained as an equipment operator as well, and will bring with him the comradery and training he received there to the benefit of our entire team and facility.
Amanda Carreon, Director of Case Management
Amanda brings a range of experience to our hospital team. She worked as a patient care technician in the intensive care unit and as a lab assistant at a local hospital. She then worked for six more years as a registered nurse in the intensive care and post anesthesia care units. She also is a certified occupational therapy assistant.
Amanda applies all her expertise as she helps our patients and family members go through the continuum of care. She is the key coordinator between them and physicians, clinical staff, and outside services. She believes in the Guiding Principle, “We are only as good as our last patient outcome,” so she constantly strives to improve our patients’ satisfaction and results.
A registered nurse, Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Dona Ana Community College in Las Cruces, N.M.
She is actively involved in the community and participates in the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Gospel Rescue Mission, donation drives for school supplies, Santa’s Little Helpers toy drive, and clothing and food drives for the underprivileged.
Fitz Glasgow, Director of Pharmacy Services
Seven years of experience focused on rehabilitation and long-term acute care bring Fitz to us where he is responsible for the safe preparation and deliver of medication to our patients.
Fitz began his academic career by earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and then earned a master’s degree in chemistry at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He earned a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.
Fitz is involved with the New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American Pharmacist Association as well as a Mobile Med Team with Sagebrush Community Church.
Yolanda Mendoza, Director of Human Resources
Yolanda possesses extensive experience in various areas of human resources and management. She has held prior positions such as senior employee relations specialist, employment supervisor and director of human resources in hospital settings.
Jennifer Risley, Director of Therapy Services
Jennifer is committed to learning and doing all she can to provide quality, state-of-the art, and patient-centered therapeutic services for everyone who walks through our doors. Jennifer has spent more than eight years as an occupational therapist with experience in long term acute care, in-patient rehab, home health services, and pediatrics. She is Neuro-IFRAH Certified with additional training in aquatic therapy and hippo-therapy.
Her responsibility is to oversee inpatient and outpatient therapy operations.
Jennifer gained her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition sciences from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. and then completed her master’s degree in occupational therapy at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. She is a member of American Occupational Therapy Association.
Jennifer loves helping others and now serves as secretary for the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Las Cruces.
Roy Rivas, Director of Compliance
Roy has been a registered respiratory therapist for more than 16 years with practice focused in long term acute care, rehabilitation, critical care, diagnostic testing and clinical education.
Roy is a member of the Advisory Board for the Respiratory Care Program at Dona Ana Community College. He was the first respiratory therapist employed by Ernest Health and set up our flagship hospital’s respiratory care program.
Roy is active in several quality healthcare initiatives and brings in-depth knowledge and skills to our continuous quality improvement program. He is a native of Las Cruces and lives by our Guiding Principles.
Elizabeth Striplin, Controller
With more than 25 years of experience, Elizabeth is responsible for the financial planning, management, and analysis for our hospital. She is actively involved in her community through the New Mexico Friends of Rehab and the American Red Cross.
Annette Tankesly, Director of Clinical Services
Annette’s 14 years of experience in critical care, long-term acute care, and rehabilitation make her a perfect fit for her current role. She oversees the services of the hospital’s laboratory, respiratory care, radiology and contracted services.
Annette earned an associate’s degree from Dona Ana Branch Community College in Las Cruces, N.M. and is a registered respiratory therapist.
She is a facilitator for the American Association for Respiratory Care’s smoking cessation program and a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Health Committee.
Deborah Tellez, Director of Nursing Operations
Deborah brings more than 11 years of critical care nursing experience to her role, which ensures the delivery of excellent nursing care to our patients.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M She has been recognized with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in 2009, a nominee for the 2010 New Mexico Nursing Excellence Award for Critical Care, and she is a member of the New Mexico Organization of Nurse Leaders.
Deborah not only shares her care and compassion through her professional life, but also through her community involvement. She volunteers with the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Gospel Rescue Mission food drive, arranges donations for school supplies, clothing and food for the underprivileged in our neighborhoods, and is involved with Santa’s Little Helpers toy drive.
Ricky Molina, Director of Marketing and Business Development
Ricky possesses more than eight years of marketing and business development experience in a range of industries, including healthcare. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in management/economics and a master’s degree with a focus in organizational behavior from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.
A former Marine Corps Officer, Ricky recently re-located to the region and is looking forward to becoming involved in the community.
Sharon Wagner, DRG Coordinator
Sharon’s favorite guiding principle is, “We promote a healing and nurturing environment ….responding to the medical, physical, psychological, and social needs of our patients.” This suits Sharon and her role at the hospital well.
A registered nurse, Sharon is responsible for utilization review and case management reporting. She brings more than nine years of experience to her role, with 5 of those years being spent in intensive care experience. She also has worked in medical/surgical, telemetry and catheter care units.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
A native of Las Cruces, she enjoys living and working in the community. She currently is active in her community through the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Gospel Rescue Mission, and school supply donation drives.
